Parents at the school have been calling it "controlling and archaic"
Parents have taken to Facebook to express and share their concerns about the new school rule, one parent saying "Any human, child or adult should be allowed to use the toilets at any time. They are hardly going to 'please Sir I have a touch of diarrhoea'. Or 'please may I use the loo my periods have started."

Hello, I'm Sara White and this, is BBC Bodmin. Last night a fire broke out at 11:15pm at the newly refurbished Bodmin Jail. Three fire engines were dispatched immediately, and the firefighters rushed to the aid of guests both staying at the hotel and eating in the restaurant. six people were rescued from the dining area, however two were rushed to hospital, one having received serious burns. Unfortunately, firefighters were unable to extinguish the fire until 6:15 this morning. Investigations are ongoing to see if this was accidental or malicious. (28/29 seconds long).

Thank you. Protests broke out at Penrice Academy on the 24th February following the introduction of new toilet rules. these rules stated that students were no longer allowed to go to the toilet during lesson time. This angered both students and parents and some took to Facebook to express their outrage. Kim Bailey wrote: "Any human, child or adult should be allowed to use the toilets at any time." The issue of periods was brought up, and to combat this, the school introduced red "period passes". These passes involve female students collecting a card and showing it to their teacher if they need to use the bathroom. The school stated that this rule was put in place to minimise disruption, however parents have called it"controlling and archaic". Students are now facing extreme consequences including permanent exclusion because of their behaviour during this protest. Some might say however that the protest was successful as the school later held sessions for their students to talk to their tutors individually to express any concerns they may have in a calm and civilised manner.
