Magazine Front Covers

LO: To identify the features on a magazine front cover; to explore genre codes and conventions.
Masthead- The title/name of the magazine. The top in the centre or the left.
Dateline- The date. The top right of the magazine in small print/somewhere around the masthead.
Main image- The picture. In the centre of the entire magazine. Is the biggest part. Covers the whole of the page.
Cover lines- Sentences that give a brief summary of what is in the magazine. The centre on the right of the magazine. Around the main image.
Main cover lines- The sentence that covers the most appealing feature of what is in the magazine. The centre on the left.It links to the main image.
Bar code/ price- How much it is. Next to the dateline/at the bottom in the corner.
Tagline/ Strapline- One short phrase that describes the purpose, product or service of the magazine. Found at the top in the centre above the title/around the masthead.
Pull quote- A quote taken from a specific article. Supposed to pull you in. On the bottom left of the cover.
